Q: What is this?
A: Clarion Prep is a panfandom AU game set in a 1920s co-ed boarding school. Your character will be AUed into that time period and played from the point of view of a student or teacher attending or working at a private school in the countryside.

Q: What kinds of characters can I play?
A: Clarion Prep allows both canon and original characters. In-game, you can choose to either make your character a student, teacher, or other member of the staff. All student characters will be aged-down between the ages of 14 and 18, depending on what year you would like them to be in school. Rule 63/genderbent characters are welcome. We also welcome AUs of historical figures, provided you can write up a background story that has original elements (not just linking a Wikipedia page).

Q: My character isn't human or has inhuman characteristics. What are my options?
A: If you play a character who is of a different species or has characteristics that are out of the ordinary (tails, ears, etc) they must be humanized for this game. Clarion does have some supernatural elements but these will be mod-driven.

Q: Are you taking reserves?
A: Yes! Clarion will accept reserves during the two weeks prior to applications opening up. Reserves will last for two weeks. One (1) one-week extension will be granted per app round. Reserves are first-come, first serve.

Q: What if someone reserves the character I want to play?
A: The player who holds the reserve has first dibs to app that character. In the event that their reserve expires and they do not place an application, that character will open up to anyone else who might want to play them.

Q: I want to play a teacher, but someone else wants to app a teacher for the same subject. Who gets to fill the slot?
A: Whoever places the reserve first will have first dibs on the slot. You may PM the player and see if they are willing to negotiate, however.

Q: What kinds of tags are allowed here?
A: We welcome both bracket-style and prose-style tagging, depending on player preference.

Q: What about a network?
A: There is not a network in Clarion in the traditional sense. However, the Clarion Banner is a period-appropriate substitute. It's basically a giant bulletin board that staff and students may leave notices on. Replies can be made in the form of your character making a handwritten comment on each bulletin notice. This is also a good forum for your character to make announcements to the whole school! The comm can also be used in lieu of IC inboxes to send letters and pass notes, if you wish.

Q: Is there a PB requirement?
A: No! We don't require that you use a live action PB. In fact, we encourage you to use fanart, comic/cartoon icons or anything else you'd like instead, if a LA play-by isn't your style. We do, however, ask that your PB choice reflect accurately the race/ethnicity of your character.

Q: Will my character be able to use their powers?
A: Since this is an AU game set in the real world, no. We will have supernatural elements in the game but these will be mod-controlled. However, this does mean that there may be opportunities for your character to temporarily gain powers down the road.

Q: Is Prohibition in effect during the game? Is there a way for my character to access alcohol?
A: Yes, Prohibition is effect in Clarion just like it was in real-world 1921. Your character can find a way to access booze, but beware that if they are a student, there will be IC consequences!
